This session will explore the evolving role of pre-university qualifications in international student recruitment and progression to higher education.. As pathways to university become more diverse,  and student expectations continue to shift, how are institutions and providers rethinking pre-university qualifications, foundation programmes, and routes to degree study?

Bringing together perspectives from across the sector, including schools, universities, and pathway providers, this discussion will examine emerging pre-university qualification models, what students and universities are looking for, and how pre-university pathways can better support access, progression, and student success in an ever-changing global landscape.

Dr Kevin House is Group Education Futures Architect (Global) at Education in Motion (EiM), the international schools group behind Dulwich College International, Dehong, and Green School. With thirty years in global education across Africa, Europe, and Asia, including senior roles at the International Baccalaureate, he now designs curriculum frameworks and credential ecosystems bridging school and university – most recently EiM’s International Advanced Diploma, layering real-world skills and personalised pathways onto an A-level spine. An Associate Professor in Practice at Durham University and Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching and RSA, his Bath doctorate won the Jeff Thompson Prize.

• Prof. Nina-Anne Lawrence, MBA, PFHEA, Head of Department & Director, Warwick Global Academy, University of Warwick

Nina-Anne is Head of Department and Director of Warwick Global Academy (WGA) at the University of Warwick.

Nina-Anne is a global strategic leader with experience gained from living and working in the UK, China, Germany, and the Republic of Ireland. She has held roles in academic leadership as well as leading the international work of a university, giving her a broad perspective on internationalisation and globalisation.

With a particular interest in international pathway programmes and leadership within this space, she has led such programmes in China, the UK, and Ireland. She brings experience across a wide range of contexts, having worked within UK universities, for private education providers, and in managing private provider relationships on behalf of a UK university.

She has championed international pathways and the students who undertake them within universities, raising their visibility. This work extended beyond her institution through her role as Chair of the University Pathway Alliance.

Her current projects include writing a contracted book on pathway programmes, undertaking a research project into leadership in this area under the title of ‘Leading from the Edge’, and developing offshore programmes.

She is looking forward to engaging with the panel for this discussion.
