We’ll be joined by expert speaker Stuart Rennie, Managing Director, AfaraEd and an IC Global Fellow, as well as two UK universities with first-hand experience of developing successful approaches and strategies in Sub Saharan Africa. EXPERT SPEAKERS

 

Stuart Rennie, Managing Director, AfaraEd and an IC Global Fellow.

Stuart Rennie is Managing Director of SJRennie Consulting Ltd and Managing Director of AfaraEd. He is an International Education Consultant with over 20 years’ experience and specialises in Sub Saharan Africa. Stuart has worked as Director and Head of successful, target-driven International Offices at leading UK universities and also has business development experience in the private sector with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and Kaplan.

Chris Cagney, Senior International Recruitment Manager (Africa & Middle East), University of Sheffield. (AfaraEd hosts their local representative in Nigeria)

Chris Cagney is a Senior International Recruitment Manager with over a decade of experience in university international student recruitment, beginning in 2011. His career includes roles recruiting from Africa and the Middle East at the University of Hull and the University of Reading, and he currently works at the University of Sheffield. At Sheffield, his responsibilities extend to managing faculty relationships, sponsors, international scholarships, and alumni relations, providing a holistic approach to international student engagement. This diverse experience has given him a comprehensive understanding of the international student journey, from initial recruitment to fostering lasting connections and supporting academic and professional success.

Lily Perez – Nwosu, Regional Manager (East /West Africa),  University of Stirling. (Based in AfaraEd’s Nigeria office)

Lily Perez-Nwosu is an International Higher Education expert and currently the Regional manager (East-West Africa) at the University of Stirling, UK, overseeing the University’s recruitment activities across the region which comprise conversion activities, enrolment management, trainings to ensure that the University’s partners meet the requirements of the UK Agent Quality Framework, forging and maintaining relationships between the University and its partners across the region.

She has years of experience in the International Student Recruitment processes, Global partnerships, Talent management, Project management, Strategic business development and Brand management.

Lily is also the first in-country Co-chair of the Scottish Africa Recruitment Group and was nominated for the ‘Best International Representative award’ at the prestigious TINE AWARDS 2024.

 

She is also a seasoned musician and filmmaker who loves to write and produce music and films.
